"The role of propaganda in dealing with the non-totalitarian world uses terror and the nature of isolation and loneliness as preconditions for total domination"
cites the author Hannah Arendt. Origins raises a set of fundamental questions about how tyranny can rise and lead to dangerous forms of inhumanity.
We are currently living in what many see as dark times but the divisiveness and broken norms that challenge us, are also our greatest opportunity as Humanity.
In her book, Hannah writes about the manner in which we are growing from a civilization of classes into one of "the masses". In other words, we are losing sight of our personal values, our humanitarianism and our sense of exuberance and hope.
I am of the conviction that if we are not "Mindful of our Values", and if we do not learn "Powerful Social Discourse" then we will be at the mercy of a social narrative that is not a reflection of healthy dialogue where we honour differences and truly LISTEN to others.
Virginia Satir says it best! "We connect through our samenesses, we grow through our differences".
To that end, as we gather for our monthly DISC Community Classroom, we begin with the schooling of well designed discourse. With mindfulness we learn to respect our different views.
As a person who truly has a desire to serve others; it requires you to not only listen but to understand at a very deep level the needs of the other person. Only then will you have the ability to deliver your Very Best and bring mutual satisfaction and a sense of success for all.
